Sorry for the long delay between posts. We’ve been busy! We’re working on new promotion types and just last week we launched a proof-of-concept for a collaborative story telling promotion.
We asked everyone to submit just five words to keep a story going. To say thanks for adding your five words to the story, we entered the participants into a random drawing to win a $20 gift certificate to http://www.fandango.com.
We didn’t spend anything on marketing, nor did we cook in any viral features (like invite a friend). We just used word of mouth.
The results were amazing! We had over 120 participants in just under 3 days. We got over 100 new fans out of those new participants as well. And the story, although it went a bit crazy and strange, still made relative sense… well, that might be a stretch, but at least it _read_ like a story. No one just typed 5 random words so they could be entered into the sweep. Everyone read the back story and added to it. Awesome, right!?
We’re now trying the experiment again this week, but we’re allowing people to add a full sentence. We’re seeing a much more cohesive story this time around. And at almost 80 entries in the first 2 1/2 days, we’re hoping to surpass the first story.
If you want to check it out, head over to http://yunno.com/sweeps We’ll probably take the story down once it’s over, so take a peak soon if you want to see how it unfolds!
