Facebook To Marketers: Are We There Yet?

    http://www.mediapost.com/publications/?fa=Articles.showArticle&art_aid=142134&nid=122187

    Key quotes:
    * 89% of consumer replies on company Facebook pages went unanswered
    * Only 11 companies had replied to more than one consumer
    * The Kearney study showed that while only 5% of company-to-consumer posts engaged consumers in discussions; 71% were promotional — discount offers, prizes, etc. And, the promotional posts were the most-liked while informative postings were the least effective and drew the fewest comments.

    Key take away:
BRANDS NEED YUNNO! It’s great to have your company validated over and over again with articles like these.

Article: 4 Misconceptions about Marketing in Social Gaming

A really nice article about the misconceptions surrounding social gaming. I’ve had a few companies tell me, “oh, our target demographic doesn’t play games.” I try to point to articles like these to show them that they do, in fact, play games; everyone plays games!

Collaborative Story Telling a Huge Success

Sorry for the long delay between posts. We’ve been busy! We’re working on new promotion types and just last week we launched a proof-of-concept for a collaborative story telling promotion.

We asked everyone to submit just five words to keep a story going. To say thanks for adding your five words to the story, we entered the participants into a random drawing to win a $20 gift certificate to http://www.fandango.com.

We didn’t spend anything on marketing, nor did we cook in any viral features (like invite a friend). We just used word of mouth.

The results were amazing! We had over 120 participants in just under 3 days. We got over 100 new fans out of those new participants as well. And the story, although it went a bit crazy and strange, still made relative sense… well, that might be a stretch, but at least it _read_ like a story. No one just typed 5 random words so they could be entered into the sweep. Everyone read the back story and added to it. Awesome, right!?

We’re now trying the experiment again this week, but we’re allowing people to add a full sentence. We’re seeing a much more cohesive story this time around. And at almost 80 entries in the first 2 1/2 days, we’re hoping to surpass the first story.

If you want to check it out, head over to http://yunno.com/sweeps We’ll probably take the story down once it’s over, so take a peak soon if you want to see how it unfolds!

Where are my Yunno blog posts?

We’ve been missing for about a month now. No blog updates. Have we disappeared? Of course not! Actually, quite the opposite. I’ve been busy interviewing people for our COO and CFO positions. And, good news everyone, we found who we need!

I’d like to introduce you to our new COO, Cristian, and his new partner in crime and our new CFO, Deacon. Now I know what you’re thinking… “hey…. wasn’t that CFO born yesterday?” Well no. He was born 3 weeks ago. But that’s beside the point! The fact is, that these two gentlemen are extremely qualified and come highly recommended by our CEO

We weren’t certain if they were the direction we wanted to go, but last week’s episode of The Office was really inspiring and taught us that mixing family and business is a beautiful thing. Thanks, Michael Scott!

(new real news soon… I promise)

    Yunno gets TV Time

How could I forget this!? Yunno was featured on CBS3 news a month or so ago.

They did a DreamIt story and Yunno was one of two companies they interviews.

Watch closely between 1:27 and 1:31 for a b-roll shot of my forehead, and a big ol’ closeup of Andres.

Now that we’re famous, people are always coming up to me, “hey aren’t you that guy that got 4 seconds of air time on a local news channel?” It’s frustrating, but I gotta take the time to appreciate my fans, you know?

This news article is exciting for us. We get to see one of our contests being featured without any solicitation. This came out of word of mouth. Awesome!

Even better, the blogger also mentions some of the background on Korver’s foundation. Kyle is very dedicated to helping people through his foundation, and part of running these contests is to raise awareness and support for his foundation.

We’re really excited for Kyle. We’re going to be launching more contests very soon.

Attention everyone. I wanted to announce that I was recently — just 5 minutes ago — awarded the highest honor at DreamIt Ventures.

Company of the year? No, of course not. Even if that existed, this is way more important!

That’s right… I was just crowned the DreamIt 2010 Ping Pong Champion! Send a self-addressed envelop to my address and I’ll be sure to send back a personalized signed picture for your sports memorabilia case.
